The main part of this announcement should be the presentation of a significant UI change codenamed Sun Valley. As we know, a significant part of the UX changes will be handled by the Windows 10X shell, and Windows 10X will not hit the market. Now, as expected, information about Windows 11 begins to leak. What’s new in Windows 11: – Windows 11 will have a completely new look. Microsoft, of course, needs a good reason to withdraw its previous claims and abandon Windows 10, introducing a new operating system number. And a completely new design is perfect for this. The Redmond giant has long been preparing a redesign of the update, codenamed Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”;) – supposedly, Windows 11 was under this name. The Sun Valley project flashed on the Internet for a long time – Microsoft regularly announced details of the new interface style, insiders shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circles drew realistic concepts based on all this data. – Start and system elements will float above the bottom bar. Start is the calling card and face of every new version of Windows. It is not surprising that the creators will redesign it again in Windows 11, but not so much in a functional sense, but in a visual one – the Start window will float above the bottom bar. It must be admitted that this small change makes the appearance of the system much fresher. According to information from the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “interior” of this menu – the innovations only concern the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float, and its appearance will exactly correspond to the appearance of the “Start”. The action center has been combined with control buttons – a similar one has long been used in some other operating systems. Almost all mentions of the new menu suggest that it will be an island – the control buttons will be on a separate panel, notifications on another, and specific elements (e.g. the player) on another. – Right angles will disappear, they will be replaced by curves. In fact, insiders and designers of the concept do not agree on this issue – some are convinced that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will not change right angles, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the fashion for curves. The latter fits better into the definition of “all new Windows” – the floating menu alone is not enough to consider the new design as truly new. It is expected that the rounding will affect almost everything in the system, from context menus and system trays to all application windows. However, even in this matter, the opinions of the creators of the concept are different – some draw curves in all possible elements of the user interface, others combine them with right angles. – There will be a transparent background with blur everywhere. There is no consensus on the Internet about the island style of window exposure, the design of corners and the effect of floating menus, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of windows. The vast majority of leaks and renders of projects show transparency and blur in all windows, at least in the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even included in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak gadgets.
