There was something about Lashan that just didn’t click for me – I can’t put my finger on it.
Redmayne’s mix of charm and menace is striking
She wasn’t terrible, but it bothered me the whole time. : (Eddie Redmayne absolutely nails the role as the killer, bringing a chilling magnetic energy to the role. He’s intimidating, but somehow it’s impossible to look away from him, and his every move feels very deliberate.
The depth you’d expect from a story like this
, so Lashana Lynch, as I said, doesn’t quite fit the bill. In a film that’s packed with detail and complexity, her character comes across as singular and extraordinary. Overall, the film is intense and engaging, but uneven performances hold it back.
