The city of New Rome faces a duel between Cesare Catilina, a brilliant artist who advocates for a utopian future, and the greedy mayor, Franklin Cicero. Among them is Julia Cicero, whose loyalties are divided between her father and her lover. Francis Ford Coppola wrote the screenplay in the early 1980s, but the film was shelved, partly due to his financial debts.
Coppola abandoned the project altogether in 2007
after 30 hours of second-take filming and table reads with Paul Newman, Uma Thurman, Robert De Niro, James Gandolfini, Nicolas Cage, Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Edie Falco and Kevin Spacey, the project was abandoned after 9/11- attacks because the scenario scene (page 166) “predicted” the attacks. and started developing it only in 2019. The security video of Cicero entering Caesar’s office is said to have been taken from two different cameras, as the small text in the upper left corner indicates.

I really admire the story and the purpose, but the younger generation’s interpretation was almost unbearable, I had to laugh. The acting is very well done, but at the behest of the off-road plot and lack of setting.
it was strange and unpleasant to watch
Some scenes were downright weird; the actors go to different parts of the room for no reason, it felt like I was watching a Cirque Du Soleil show without the artistic beauty of cinema, the bleak and exaggerated portrayal of the rich as if they were stupid pigs, and the general direction.
